Radford University appoints new Vice President for University Advancement

Radford University has appointed Melissa E. Wohlstein as vice president for University Advancement. Wohlstein brings nearly two decades of experience in advancement and development in higher education and non-profit organizations.

As vice president for University Advancement, Wohlstein will be responsible for the leadership and management of RU's Offices of Advancement and Alumni Relations beginning in September. She will oversee the development of fundraising, philanthropy, strategic communication messaging and alumni relations.

"Melissa Wohlstein has proven adept at creating incredible advancement opportunities throughout her career. She is an accomplished development professional with proven success in university fundraising and in establishing good relations for universities, alumni and donors," President Penelope W. Kyle said. "I appreciate the search committee's time and effort in meeting with a number of highly qualified candidates. I am positive that Melissa will be a key addition to the Radford University leadership team and our future advancement efforts."

Previously, Wohlstein has served as the associate vice president of advancement at Georgia Southern University, senior director of development at the University of Florida Foundation – College of Health and Human Performance, and as assistant director of annual giving at the University of Central Florida Foundation. She also has experience in managing and leading fundraising initiatives in non-profit organizations.

Wohlstein earned her Master of Public Administration at the University of Central Florida and her B.A. at the University of Alabama. Wohlstein is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
