Nolen wins Keep'n It Green award

Patricia Nolen of Facilities Management was named the 2013 Keep’n It Green Award winner by the Radford University Staff Senate at its annual picnic on May 15.

Award criteria are based on one or more of the following: energy and water conservation, waste reduction and recycling, behavior change and/or awareness, and economic impact. Nominations for the award are made by Radford University employees, and the winner is selected by the Keep’n It Green Award committee.

Nolen has worked at Radford for 20 years, currently in Peters Hall, where she "does an excellent job of keeping up with recycling" and is "concerned for making a safe and healthier environment" for university employees, Nolen’s recommendation read.

For her contributions to the university, Nolen received a $50 gift card and a certificate framed from wood recycled from the Preston Hall auditorium stage. RU’s College of Graduate and Professional Studies provided the gift card.

The Keep'n It Green Award, now in its third year, is given by the RU Staff Senate to an employee who exemplifies sustainability initiatives at Radford University. Making this year’s presentation was Rhonda McCroskey, vice president of the Staff Senate.
