RU appoints recycling coordinator

Radford University has appointed Pavan Muddanna as recycling coordinator.

Muddanna­­ will supervise the university's recycling programs as part of RU Sustainability and will be responsible for waste reduction, product reuse and support for all areas of campus recycling.

"Pavan Muddanna is uniquely qualified to lead the RU recycling efforts," Sustainability Coordinator Julio Stephens said. "His experience and enthusiasm for recycling will make him a valuable advocate as we intensify our efforts."

Muddanna holds a Master of Science degree in civil and environmental engineering from Old Dominion University in Norfolk and a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology in Bangalore, India. He comes to RU from ODU, where he was recently a student environmental coordinator and engineering technician.

"I am excited about this opportunity," Muddanna said. "I am passionate about recycling as a way to make the world better and enthusiastic about what RU can accomplish."

Muddanna said RU's programs are a solid foundation on which to build. RU has been active in national competitions, and its outreach goes into every campus building. He looks forward to reaching out to the campus community further and engaging it with a series of competitions, drives, volunteer and partnering programs.

RU Recycling provides waste reduction opportunities and recycling services to campus clients. Muddanna said RU recycling is a client-focused department dedicated to removing as much material as possible from the waste stream by providing the best and most efficient services.
