Highland Summer Conference sponsors reading by Appalachian authors and poets
Author and poet George Ella Lyon and poet Diane Gilliam will present a public reading on July 18, at 7:30 p.m., in McConnell Library, as part of the 36th annual Radford University Highland Summer Conference, which concludes on Friday.
One of the longest-running creative writing programs in the United States, the 36th conference began Monday, July 15, offering an intensive format with morning and afternoon classes.
Lyon and Gilliam, both of whom have taught at the conference in previous years, collaborated on a curriculum to include advanced readings and pre-writing as well as submitting final portfolios.
