Pam Duncan, check processing technician in the Office of Accounting Services, was honored with the Bea Covington Award during the RU Staff Senate's annual picnic on May 9.

Established in 2006 to honor the late wife of former President Douglas Covington, the award is given to a person who exemplifies the character and spirit of Mrs. Covington. Individuals are nominated by their colleagues and, according to award guidelines, “consistently demonstrate a positive attitude, are fun to be around and treat others with dignity, respect and kindness.”

Duncan was recognized for her supportive and kind personality.

"Pam is always the first person to offer a shoulder of support when things are rough for another person," wrote one coworker in a letter of nomination. "She is one person you can always count on to stand strong beside you in troubled times. Pam is an extraordinary person just as Bea Covington was."

Duncan received a trophy and gift bag, and her name was engraved on the award’s plaque.
