Justin Mosby has been named executive director of advancement for the College of Business and Economics (COBE) at Radford University.

A Radford alumnus, Mosby earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation, parks and tourism in 2001 and a master’s degree in counselor education in 2003. While at RU, he was on the cross country and track and field teams.

He comes to RU after almost five years at Virginia Tech, where he was most recently associate director of development for its College of Architecture and Urban Studies.

“Justin brings with him the experience and qualifications that will make him invaluable to the success of our college’s development activities,” said Faye Gilbert, dean of COBE.

Mosby has joined the Radford University Office of Advancement and will be responsible for one of the office’s top priorities: gathering support for and investment in COBE’s new building, scheduled to open in 2012. Designed as the campus signature building for the 21st century, the COBE complex is a $44 million capital project for which RU is raising $10 million from private sources.

“We are excited to have a successful advancement professional like Justin join us,” said Robyn Porterfield, associate vice president for university advancement.

Mosby said the decision by the university’s administration for a signature COBE building “has proved to be a transformational one. I hope to enhance the heritage of philanthropy among my fellow alumni and further engage them and our other friends in the opportunities they have to impact higher education. RU alumni have a unique connection to their faculty members, and their programs and their gifts can make a significant and immediate impact.”
