Associate Professor Holly Cline has been appointed the interim department chair of Radford University’s Department of Interior Design & Fashion (ID&F). She replaces Lennie Scott-Webber, who recently stepped down to accept a new job in Michigan.

As interim chair, Cline, an RU faculty member since 1997, looks forward to helping the department meet its goal of becoming one of the top schools in the nation for fashion, interior design and merchandising.

“I was honored that the faculty decided to entrust me with the interim position,” said Cline. “While Lennie’s leadership was valuable to our department and programs, we have a fabulous faculty that works tirelessly to accomplish our goals. I know this will continue to happen.”

Scott-Webber is confident the department is in good hands with Cline.

“She will be a wonderful leader for the department and continue advancing its agenda moving forward,” Scott-Webber said of Cline. “She has always been ‘the cheerleader,’ and now will have a platform for the department.”

Cline credits both Scott-Webber and Professor Emeritus and former ID&F Department Chair Susan Barnard for setting forth initiatives that have laid the foundation of success.

“Words cannot describe the impact she has made in such little time,” said Cline, applauding Scott-Webber’s contributions in securing a variety of funding sources for both the university and the ID&F department.

Cline’s position as interim department chair is expected to run for more than a year as the department plans to advertise for a permanent chair by fall 2011, with an anticipated start date a year later in the fall of 2012.
