    By Beth Henley. “Crimes of the Heart” is playwright Beth Henley’s homage to her roots. The three Magrath Sisters, trapped in their small Mississippi town, wrestle with the lies and hurts of the past as they face some super-sized troubles together. Henley’s unique blend of Southern Gothic and screwball comedy is at its finest in this 1981 Pulitzer Prize winner.     The first of four productions hosted by the University Performance Series, the Festival of South African Dance presents an evening of two distinct South African dance traditions born from the perseverance of the human spirit. Two deeply rhythmic ensembles, Real Actions Pantsula and Stimela “The Gumboot” Musical uplift, unite and tell a story following their historical tradition of spreading awareness of socioeconomic and political challenges. These communicative dances play an important role in restoring, revitalizing and preserving South African Culture. General Admission: $15, Children: $7.50, RU Student/Faculty/Staff: w/RU ID: Free.     Strange Weather explores site specificity, changing climatic patterns, and symbolic narratives of home. Utilizing local newspapers as well as newspapers that she creates herself, ephemera, chance, history, and time come into conversation in the large-scale sculptural works. This exhibition will include photographs of previous work installed across the globe, three dimensional sculptures, as well as participation from the art, dance, and music departments at Radford University for a collaborative interdisciplinary event.
