"Hollow," an Interactive Documentary
Friday Nov 1
5:00 PM - 6:30 PM
The RU campus community is invited to a screening of "Hollow," an interactive documentary and community participatory project that examines the future of rural America through the eyes and voices of those living in McDowell County, W.Va., on Friday, Nov. 1, at 5 p.m. in the Bonnie Auditorium.
Combining video portraits, data visualizations, photography, soundscapes, community-generated content and grassroots mapping, "Hollow" tells its story through an online experience. Elaine McMillion, the director, will be on-hand to screen portions of the documentary, discuss the making an interactive documentary and tell the story of life in Appalachia.
Hosted by Dr. Stockton Maxwell, assistant professor of geospatial science, the presentation of "Hollow" is sponsored by the Scholar-Citizen Initiative and the Department of Geospatial Science.
