Having excelled in biology throughout high school, Samantha Mills knew she wanted to explore an education in the sciences. As a junior in high school, she was torn between the fields of nursing and environmental science.
“I knew I needed to start narrowing down a career path, so I started to do research on different possible career options that enabled an in-depth understanding of biology and would give me the opportunity to explore the many aspects of human life,” she said. “My two very different passions – environmental science and health sciences – left a heavy decision on my shoulders when it came time to decide the best college for me.”
After visiting multiple campuses, including Radford University, Mills felt most at home when she toured Waldron Hall, home to Radford University’s School of Nursing. After that visit, Radford University was her choice and so was nursing.
During her time at Radford University, Mills has enjoyed smaller class sizes and getting to know the faculty and staff within the School of Nursing.
“All of them truly care about you and what is going on in your life,” she said. “They know when and how to challenge you and ultimately they know what you need in order to navigate the journey to becoming an RN.”
After graduation, Mills hopes to continue her education, potentially pursuing a degree in medical administration.
