As an international student who transferred to Radford University, Mrunal Bhome has found the campus community to be a welcoming environment to call home.

While Radford University is much smaller than the first university she attended, it offers her rigorous academic programming and preparation for her future career in accounting.

“The small classroom sizes give students better interactions with their professors,” Bhome said. “That’s been really beneficial.”

The smaller classes have given Bhome the opportunity to interact more closely with her professors – and for them to find opportunities for her outside the classroom. For example, one of her dedicated professors nominated her to serve on the College of Business and Economics advisory board as the representative for the accounting department.

“The fact that my professors thought I was worthy enough to be chosen is an honor,” Bhome said.

When she’s not studying or participating on the advisory board, Bhome is hard at work, serving as a resident assistant in Muse Hall.

“Being an RA helps you make a difference within the campus community,” Bhome said. She credits being involved on campus as the key to her successful college career.

For prospective international students, Bhome offered this personal insight, “I know the environment may be completely different from what you are used to, and sometimes tough to adjust to, but remember that you have support – the Radford University campus is here to support you.”
