Major: Biology in the College of Science and Technology, minoring in business and chemistry

While searching for a college, David Morabito had a list of specific amenities an institution needed to offer to meet his needs: small class sizes, abundant recreation opportunities and resources to help him get the most out of his education. Radford University fit the bill perfectly.

Radford University is nestled along the New River in the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains, giving students access to some of the best hiking, biking, camping and kayaking opportunities in the Commonwealth. The university also has an adventure programming group, RU Outdoors, which plans group excursions and rents equipment to students.

“When I visited for orientation and I found out about the RU Outdoors program, I was even more excited to make Radford University my home,” he said.

It wasn’t just Radford’s location that appealed to Morabito. As a pre-dental student, he was seeking a university that offered a quality biology program that would prepare him for graduate school. Radford’s small class sizes and undergraduate research opportunities allow him to make the most of his education.

Meanwhile, Morabito also needed access to additional support to facilitate learning. As a freshman, he was immediately impressed by the university’s Disability Resources Office (DRO). The DRO helps students by providing reasonable academic accommodations for students with documented disabilities.

“At the beginning of my first semester, I was able to have my books scanned and made digital so my computer could read the text to me,” Morabito said. “That helps me to better retain the information.”

After graduating from Radford, Morabito plans to attend dental school so he can join his father in practice.
