Alan Brown always had an interest in art, but never thought of majoring in it or making it a career. In fact, when he first began his college search during his senior year of high school, Brown’s plan was to major in physics.

After being accepted to Radford University as well as several other universities, Brown decided to make Radford his home because of the campus environment. It was not only beautiful, but also had what he considered to be the perfect size enrollment.

“It was just the fit I was looking for,” Brown said.

After exploring physics as a major, Brown realized it wasn’t exactly the major for him so he began to research other options.

“Thinking of my enjoyment of all things related to computers, and putting that together with my interest in art, it became apparent that I should give graphic design a try,” he said. “I’ve really enjoyed the major. It constantly presents challenges that need to be addressed, especially when it comes to working with clients.”

Graduating with a bachelor of fine arts in graphic design, Brown says Radford University has prepared him well for his future and helped him build a digital illustration portfolio. His ultimate goal is to become a concept artist for video games.
