Inaugural Budget Planning Summit
On Sept. 9, 2016, Radford University President Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D. hosted the Inaugural Budget Planning Summit, which included student, faculty and staff representatives from across the campus. During the day-long Summit, presentations were provided regarding the university’s operating budget and the budget forecast for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Following these presentations, the Radford family engaged in breakout group discussions on the topics of revenue generation, efficiencies and innovation, as well as economic development and programmatic strategies. From these discussions, a total of 17 recommendations were identified and will guide the university’s budget planning efforts. These recommendations will also inform the work of the university’s strategic plan, which is being led by a Task Force in collaboration with nine subgroups. The university’s strategic planning process will occur through the 2017 calendar year at which time a new strategic plan for 2018-2023 will be developed and approved for implementation.
