The University Police Department submits a monthly report to the Virginia State Police Uniform Crime Reporting Program (UCR) as well as an annual security report to the Department of Education. The charts included in the annual security report reflect the number of crimes reported to the University Police Department, other university officials and the local police department. The reportable year runs from January 1 - December 31.
The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act was signed into law in November 1990 (known at the time as the Student Right to Know and Campus Security Act). It requires institutions participating in student financial aid programs under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 to disclose information about campus safety policies and procedures and to provide statistics concerning certain crimes that occurred on or near campus. In compliance with the act, the Radford University Police Department publishes and distributes this information each year in its Safety and Security Report available here: Annual Safety and Security Report [PDF]. Printed copies are available by request.
Crime Statistics for Radford University and other institutions can also be found at the Office of Postsecondary Education website.
