Duo Two-Factor Authentication

In the Spring of 2017, a new initiative began to enhance security at Radford University with two-factor authentication on some services and applications.  Two-factor authentication is designed to protect student and employee data from cybersecurity threats that are routinely being exploited through phishing, social engineering and brute-force password attacks.

Duo Security is a two-factor authentication solution widely used at other universities.  It is stronger than a password alone because there are two factors confirming you are who you say you are: something you have (such as your phone) and something you know (your password).  A phased rollout will begin with the Division of IT Staff in the summer of 2017 and eventually include all faculty, staff and students by the end of 2018.
