Eligibility

Radford University students seeking to study at Monash University should have completed at least one full-year at Radford University and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

What courses can I take?

Students seeking to take advantage of Radford-Monash study abroad agreement are required to take 3 courses in the Monash University Faculty of Arts which includes 39 academic areas of study. Students may then take a 4th course outside the Faculty.

Students who wish to enroll in two or more courses outside the Faculty of Arts will be charged standard tuition.

What are the costs of the program?

A full semester-long course load (4 units/classes) will cost approximately $7,800 (U.S. Dollars). Additional costs include airfare (variable) and Health Insurance ($330 per semester U.S. Dollars). Review the cost of living in Melbourne.

Payment

All final costs will be determined by the AUD/USD exchange rate at the time of invoicing in September. However, it is not anticipated that the final cost will vary significantly from the costs above. Payments will be done through the Radford University student accounts found on students’ MyRU portals.

Are there scholarships?

Students applying to the Fall 2017 Monash-Radford University Program are eligible for one of the $1,250 USD IEC-Monash University Scholarships through the McGlothlin fund. To apply for this scholarship, please fill out the online application. Be sure to explain in your essay that you are applying for the Monash University scholarship.

Can I work while in Australia?

Yes, international students are permitted to work up to 40 hours a fortnight (2 weeks).

Where will I be housed?

Halls of residence at Clayton campus are available on a 21 week contract. 2017 fees are between $3,674 (USD) and $4,112 (USD) per semester. See Monash University Accommodation webpage for details.

When does the semester begin/end?

  • Semester 1 runs from Feb. to June.
  • Semester 2 runs from July to Nov.

Application process

Radford University students seeking to apply to Monash University should schedule a visit with Eric Viani, Study Abroad Advisor located in Cook Hall 104. If all the criteria are met, you will then be nominated and provided with application materials. In addition, students should fill-out the Radford University IEC online application. On Part II under the “Exchange”  box of this application, please specify Monash University as well as which semester you wish to study during.

Applications for Semester 1 (Spring Semester) are due on Oct. 31, 2017. Applications for Semester 2 (Fall Semester) are due on April 1, 2018.
