Radford Gives Back

As part of the celebration for President Hemphill's Inauguration, Radford University is holding a campus-wide Radford Gives Back Community Service Project on Oct. 11, 2016.

The goal is to collect 10,000 items of non-perishable food that will be distributed to children identified through the Highlander Helpers Backpack Program, the Bobcat Backpacks program, and through other assistance agency distribution programs.

The food items requested include the following:

  • Soup
  • Vegetable (canned)
  • Oatmeal packs
  • Popcorn packs
  • Applesauce
  • Pudding
  • Beans
  • Mac n Cheese
  • Rice and Boxed Snacks (e.g., granola bars, cheese crackers, graham crackers teddy crackers, etc.)

All university student organizations, departments, colleges, and individuals are asked to join in collecting these items of food.

The service project is being organized through the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs with assistance from the Highlander Helpers Backpack Club, Office of Student Life, and the Inauguration Committee.

Multipurpose Activity Center (MAC court)

 

If you need to deliver the food in a vehicle, you can park outside of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center and go to the main desk for assistance. Food items will not be accepted before Oct. 10.

If interested in helping to sort, pack and load the food items, please sign up with RUInvolved to register your name or group for the initiative.

Note: A group or organization only needs to sign up once.
