What is ECO?

Environment/Community (ECO) Connections is a freshman residential learning community for students interested in the environment and sustainability. ECO students will take themed courses together; design and implement environmentally-themed projects on the RU campus, the Selu Conservancy, and the surrounding community; and participate in residential programming and peer mentoring. ECO students will create innovative approaches to contemporary and future problems, be active leaders within their individual majors, and link their education to the New River Valley, Virginia, and the wider world.

What are the benefits?

  • Pre-Registration for themed courses
  • Living community in Stuart Hall, a preferred housing option
  • Close interactions with Faculty Mentors
  • Comprehensive out of classroom programming

How do I qualify?

All freshmen who are interested in the environment and sustainability can qualify to participate in ECO Connections. Registration is limited by space availability on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must commit to living in Stuart hall.

How do I learn more about ECO Connections?

Students interested in joining the ECO Connections living-learning community should indicate their interest on the Learning Community application after they have received their admission letter. For more information contact Dr. Brock Cutler by emailing bcutler2@radford.edu .
