Closing Ceremony, Showcases, and Checkout

Schedule

Parents may arrive as early as 8 a.m. to move student possessions out of the residence halls, however, no keys will be accepted until the conclusion of the showcases (this is to ensure student attendance). Students must still attend their morning check-in and may not leave campus before the closing ceremony, showcases, and presentations. Brunch will be at 10:30 a.m. and parents are welcome to dine with the students. Please note that parents must pay $11.01 for brunch. Parents are encouraged to attend showcases with students. Students must be checked out by 5 p.m. Residence hall rooms must be cleaned so please bring cleaning supplies (the Governor’s School does not provide cleaning supplies).

Showcase and Check-Out Schedule

10:30-11:15 a.m.: Brunch in Dalton

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Closing remarks in Bondurant Auditorium. (Parents to park in lots M, HH, and N).

12:30- 12:45 p.m.: Students and guests proceed to student showcases

12:45 p.m.-3 p.m.: VPA Student Showcases

                Theatre: Pridemore Auditorium

                Vocal and Instrumental: Convington Performance Hall

                Dance: Bondurant Auditorium

                Visual Art: Covington Atrium and Art Museum

12:45 p.m.-2:30 p.m.: Humanities Showcases. Students and guests will attend an abbreviated meeting of sessions 1 and 2 classes according to the schedule below.

All showcases are scheduled to end by 3 p.m. At the end of each showcase students may proceed to the residence halls to checkout. Checkout tickets will be issued. Each student’s checkout ticket will only be signed once a visual inspection by a counselor is complete. Students are responsible for cleaning the room and returning the room to its original condition. Once their checkout ticket is signed students will proceed to the residence hall common area where they will turn in their checkout ticket and room key. Please note that unreturned/lost rooms keys will be subject to a replacement charge. Room keys will not be accepted without a signed checkout ticket.
