Telephone Services Office Opportunity
Switchboard Operator – Summer 2013
The Telephone Services Office would like to hire four telephone operators for the university’s switchboard. These are summer work study positions, and students need to be registered at least 3 hours and can only work in a term for which they are registered. The total hours required each week is 12.
Available hours: Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Job Responsibilities – The chief objective of the position/s is to answer incoming calls to the university’s main telephone number. Operators direct/transfer callers to appropriate departments as requested and provide general and pertinent information to callers about the university. Required qualifications are: excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, punctuality and good attendance. Assist office staff with special projects as requested. Preferred but not required: applicants with a working knowledge of multi-line telephone systems.
