Brooke Chang was appointed to the position of Director of the Office of Diversity and Equity and Title IX Coordinator in May 2012. As director, she forwards Radford University's continuing commitment to advancing Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972, equal opportunity in its employment and educational practices, and equal access in all opportunities, programs, services, and facilities at the University. The role of the Office of Diversity and Equity is to support and advance the University's commitment to diversity and equity by providing education, guidance and leadership to administrators, faculty, and staff, and to ensure a safe campus community free from discrimination and harassment for our students, faculty, and staff in strict accordance with applicable federal laws, state laws, and University policies.
Prior to her appointment, Ms. Chang served as Associate Counsel for East Tennessee State University. In her capacity as Associate Counsel, she worked integrally on diversity, equity, equal access, discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual violence matters involving faculty, staff, and students, and provided legal advice to the Office of Equity and Diversity, Divison of Students Affairs, Department of Human Resources, Department of Athletics, and other departments and administrative offices at East Tennessee State University.
Ms. Chang brings over 15 years of legal practice experience as a trial attorney in discrimination, sexual harassment, and hostile work environment cases for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Securities Administration, U.S. Department of the Interior, and in her own law practice.
