Honor a Beloved Professor and Support the Visiting Artist Program

The Department of Theatre and Cinema, its alumni, friends and family are undertaking an initiative to honor the career of our longtime colleague, teacher, mentor and friend Charles L. “Chuck” Hayes by naming the Pridemore Playhouse stage for him. This gesture recognizes his many contributions to Radford University, the theatre program and its students over his four decades of service.

A goal of $75,000 is set for this dedication. Alumni Mark and Jackie Curran have kicked things off with a generous and substantial donation. Now we invite you to join in this exciting project with your gift in any amount. Please know that your gift will be greatly appreciated.

Beyond honoring Chuck Hayes, your generous contribution will help build an endowed fund to bring back the Department of Theatre and Cinema’s Visiting Artist Program. This program was a mainstay of RU Theatre for many years and benefitted countless students by bringing to campus world-class professionals to work alongside them. During his time at RU, Chuck worked with several of these guest artists. So, it is all the more appropriate that this naming opportunity be partnered with the Visiting Artist Program. Naming the Pridemore Playhouse stage the Charles L. Hayes Stage is a lasting reminder of his contributions to RU and supports a program to provide valuable learning experiences for our students long into the future.

The next step is to raise the amount necessary to make the naming possible by this fall. A dedication ceremony and reception will be held Saturday, October 19 prior to a performance of RU Theatre’s The Dining Room. Please consider joining us to honor Chuck Hayes’s legacy and support future theatre opportunities for our students by giving a gift today.
