The International Competition of IBLA Grand Prize Concert returns to Radford University

Join the Radford University Department of Music in welcoming winners from the International Competition of Ibla Grand Prize (2015).

The IBLA Foundation organizes an annual music competition for pianists, singers, instrumentalists and composers, which takes place in Ragusa-Ibla, Sicily. Winners are presented in prestigious venues such Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center Alice Tully Hall, Tokyo Opera City Hall, and Tchaikovsky Bolshoi Hall in Moscow as well as other prestigious venues in the USA, Canada, Europe, Russia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Japan.

This year’s IBLA Grand Prize Gala Concert will feature three solo performers and three performance duos. These are the winners of prestigious honors such as top prize, most outstanding musician, and most distinguished musician at IBLA 2015.

Expect awing renditions of repertoire from composers such as Bach, Debussy, Prokiev, Bartók, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Rossini, Liszt, and many more. The performers play an array of instruments, including piano, voice, accordion, and the violin. Join Radford University as they host the first stop on this year’s USA tour, which will culminate at the esteemed Carnegie Hall in New York.

Concertgoers have two opportunities to see these world-renowned musicians. The Radford University concert is April 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Performance Hall in Covington Center. Admission is free. At 6 p.m., April 30, a second performance will take place at Belmont Christian Church in Roanoke, Virginia.
