Q&A with a student director

Grace Ellinghaus

Grace Ellinghaus is making her college directing debut in this year’s “Making a Scene” theatre event that runs from April 30-May 3. Read our Q&A with her.

1.  Where are you from originally?

A. I am originally from Leesburg, Va. and have lived there all of my life.

2. What is your major?

A. I am a double major in theatre and media studies

3. How did you get to direct a scene for "Making a Scene"?

A. It was our final class assignment for the Advanced Directing class that I am taking.

4. Have you been given the opportunity to direct for any other productions?

A. Except for part of a play in high school, I’ve never directed anything before so this is my first time. I am extremely excited about it!

5. What do you enjoy most about being an actress?

A. What I enjoy most about being an actress is being able to be something you’re not and just have fun living in the world of the play.

6. What type of characters do you enjoy playing the most?

A. I love playing characters that are the complete opposite of who I am or just really crazy and ridiculous people.

7. If you were given the opportunity to act in any play of your choosing, what play would you choose?

A. I would love to be apart of Proof by David Auburn.

8. When do you expect to graduate and what are you plans for the future?

A. I expect to graduate in the spring of 2016 and I hope to get into either cinema, or broadcasting.
