Faces of the CVPA: Erin Bradley '14

Erin Bradley is a double major in dance and theatre in the CVPA. After noticing her lighting design for "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," we decided to feature her in our weekly Q&A.

1. Where are you from originally?

A. Spotsylvania, Virginia

2. What is your major and concentration?

A. Dance education and theatre design

3. How long have you known that you wanted to be a double major?

A. I entered Radford as just a dance major, and at the end of my sophomore year, I decided to add theatre after taking a few classes in the department.

4. What were your reasons for choosing Radford to acquire an arts degree?

A. I always knew I wanted to go to college for dance, and several people from my dance studio back home went to Radford and had great things to say about it. I took a tour here my junior year of high school and really liked the size of the department and the wide range of styles.

5. What do you love about each area that you are majoring in?

A. For dance, I love the choreography side and the many opportunities I've had to find my own style of dance. For theatre, being in design focus I really enjoy working on shows and having so many chances to design, in classes and in the actual theaters.

6. For "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," how were you chosen to be the lighting designer?

A. After being the lighting designer in the studio theatre last semester, I expressed interested in designing a main stage show and was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to do so.

7. Have you been able to design for any other shows at Radford or anywhere else in the area?

A. I was the assistant lighting designer for "The Velveteen Rabbit" last fall on the main stage, lighting designer for "Time Stands Still" in the studio theatre last semester, and have designed many shows in the Albig Studio Theatre in the dance department over the last few years.

8. What did you enjoy about being a part of the "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" design team?

A. I enjoyed being able to work with such a large set and so many elements that went into the show, and being able to develop the skills to work around different challenges. Plus I loved the story.

9. What do you plan to do after you graduate?

A. I hope to get a job teaching theatre or dance at the high school level while also working in theaters expanding my skills in tech and design.

10. If you could choose any song as your theme song (a song that defines you in any way), what song would you choose?

A. "Superman" by Lazlo Bane
