RU Design Thinking MFA Program to Host First Online Open House

We have all heard that the future is now and that it is happening online. This is the case with Radford University’s new MFA Design Thinking degree program, providing upcoming master degree student’s with a complete online experience. Even the program’s first open house is an online event.

On Saturday, April 20, 2013, the Design Thinking faculty will host a web-based experience for prospective students. From the comfort of home, a coffee shop, or even a library, those interested are invited at 1:00 p.m. EST to log onto the open house at http://breeze.radford.edu/designthink-openhouse. The event will last about an hour and will provide you with the opportunity to interact with the faculty, view a presentation about the program and an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the Design Thinking MFA.

According to the department chair, Holly Cline, “The MFA in Design Thinking at Radford University is for anyone wanting to get a Master’s degree (or an advanced degree) to further and enhance their career. This completely online program provides students with in-depth experiences using the design process to solve complex problems culminating in a terminal MFA degree.”

Through this program, students use creative and multifaceted design practices in a team environment to address domestic and international issues.

“Many companies like Apple, Coca Cola, and Nike have engaged Design Thinkers to assist in strategizing product and service design solutions,” Cline said, citing real-world examples of companies who use design thinking.

For those interested in attending the open house, please register before April 20 by emailing designthinkingmfa@radford.edu. For information regarding the open house, please contact Lori Anthony at LAnthony@radford.edu or for more information about the program or to apply, contact Dr. Joan Dickinson at jidickins@radford.edu.
