Two Faculty Members Honored at Commencement
Dr. Karen Francl Received an Advising Award and Dr. Justin Anderson Received a Scholarship and Service Award
Dr. Karen Francl was the recipient of the RU Foundation Distinguished Faculty Advising Award. Dr. Francl has an outstanding record of helping students chart their career goals. She is an active member of the Pre-Health Advising Committee, specializing in pre-Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Francl is also the advisor of the RU chapter of the The Wildlife Society.
Dr. Justin Anderson was the recipient of the Artis Outstanding Faculty Award for Scholarship and Service in the College of Science and Technology. The award was presented by the donor, Ms. Nancy Artis, a RU alumna and a member of the RU Board of Visitors. Artis mentioned Dr. Anderson's commitment to mentoring undergraduate research, professional publications, and service to the university as criteria for his selection. Anderson and his students study insect borne viral diseases. He has served the university as chair of the Biology Department Assessment Committee and member of the planning committee for the new science building.
