About:
I am responsible for producing the various weekly lab exercises for each of the General Education Biology courses. Thus, my research focus is toward finding interesting and engaging lab exercises for students in General Education Biology. My colleagues in the Biology Department are major sources of lab exercises and ideas, as is my membership in the Association for Biology Laboratory Education.
My interest in biology arose while I was a child, as I played outdoors, waded in creeks, caught salamanders, and watched birds. Even now, my main interest in biology is natural history. To this end I am a member of the New River Valley Bird Club, the New River chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society, and the Virginia Society of Ornithology.
I also am academic advisor for the freshmen class of Biology majors.
