COBE INTERIM DEAN NAMED.  Dr. Dennis Grady, currently Radford University (RU) Dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies, was named May 14 to serve as interim dean of COBE during the 2013-2014 academic year.  Outgoing COBE Dean Dr. Faye Gilbert is departing RU to serve as the Dean of The University of Southern Mississippi's College of Business.

In making the announcement, RU Provost Dr. Sam Minner said, "I am certain that Dennis Grady will provide excellent leadership and management of COBE during this critical transitional year."

OUTGOING DEAN REFLECTS.  Outgoing COBE Dean Dr. Faye Gilbert is departing RU to serve as the Dean of The University of Southern Mississippi's College of Business.  She recently reflected on her time leading COBE:

"It does not seem possible that it’s been five years since I arrived at Radford University and moved into the Dean’s office in Whitt Hall. As we put the finishing touches on my last Annual Report for RU and I prepare to move to Mississippi and closer to my home, memories of the accomplishments of this time as a Highlander pervade my thoughts. Look through any of our annual reports and you will find pages of accomplishments by the faculty, staff, students and alumni of RU. The COBE consists of a community of people who provide an active learning environment within an open culture that allows all people to contribute to the conversation. I will miss these colleagues and this place and will always feel that I take a bit of the Highlander spirit with me. Working together, you will challenge minds, cultivate talents and connect people in this technology-rich environment. I also predict you will be known for excellence in your endeavors. Go Highlanders!"
