Honors Celebration 2014

The Department of Sociology's annual year-end Honors Celebration was held Monday, April 21 in Heth Hall.  Students were recognized for achievements from Dean's Scholar to Most Promising, from Outstanding Service to the Department to Outstanding Performance in an Internship, and more.  New Alpha Kappa Delta honor society members were initiated and Spring 2014 graduates were recognized.  The event began with a special recognition of Dr. Melinda Wagner's 37 years of service in Anthropology, Sociology, and Appalachian Studies at Radford University as she steps down from full-time status.


Dr. Wagner shows the book and plaque she received celebrating her decades of service at RU.


Fellow cultural anthropologist Dr. LaLone recalled the mentoring she received from Dr. Wagner when she arrived at Radford.


Dean Hawkins presented Dr. Wagner with a bouquet of roses.


Dr. Mekolichick served as master of ceremonies.


Shannon McGrath was honored as Dean's Scholar in Sociology.


Tiffany Goins and Lauren Bailey were honored as Most Promising Students.
