Criminal Justice Open Houses
The Radford University Department of Criminal Justice invites high school students to join us for an the 2017 Crime Scene Competition and Criminal Justice Day on April 1, 2017. The competition will be team based and teams will be comprised of 3-5 students. Each school can have multiple teams, but each student can only participate on one team. Students who do not have a full team will be assigned one upon arrival. Teams will be presented with a crime scene and will have fifteen minutes to view, secure, and document the scene. Evidence should be noted, but will not be collected for the competition. Teams will have 30 minutes after viewing the scene to complete a written report.
In addition to working a graded crime scene and preparing a written report, the event will include a basic crime scene class, first-hand experience in our Emergency Operation Center and Courtroom, a Panel Discussion with current Radford University criminal justice students, a presentation from the Radford University Admissions Department, and free lunch.
Awards will be given for the top three scoring teams
Event registration ends March 22, 2017 at 11:59 EST.
All preregistered participants will receive a free event t-shirt (registrations taken after March 1 can't be guaranteed a shirt)
Please contact Eric Snow, Department of Criminal Justice faculty member, at firstname.lastname@example.org or Dr. Riane Bolin, Department of Criminal Justice faculty member, at email@example.com with any questions.
School representatives and parents are welcome to accompany students while on campus.
Please note that each student will need to register individually for the event. Students are asked to note if family members will be accompanying them. Additionally, students should indicate during registration which team they are a member of, such as "Radford High Team 1", so members can be grouped together. Students who don't have a team are asked to use "No Team" to fill in the registration field for that question.
We hope that you can join us! If you would like to register for the event, please follow the link below:
