RU Student wins SPJ-SDX Educational Foundation Scholarship
The Society of Professional Journalists, Virginia Professional chapter honored students from Radford and Virginia Tech this summer with its Virginia SPJ, SDX Educational Foundation Scholarships.
SPJ, originally called Sigma Delta Chi (SDX), is the largest professional organization for print, broadcast and online journalists, journalism educators, and students interested in journalism careers.
Arielle Retting of Fairfax, a Radford journalism and political science student and editor of Whim Internet Magazine, received the award June 22 in Richmond, along with Katherine “Katie” Mawyer of Sandston, a communication student at Virginia Tech.
The two were selected from a dozen applicants from schools across Virginia, according to SPJ. The deadline to apply for the annual scholarship falls in April. See the SPJ Virginia Pro Chapter and Virginia SPJ, SDX Educational Foundation Web page for more information.
