Students from across the globe gathered in D.C. for a two-day professional
networking conference.

WASHINGTON, D.C. Radford University advertising students are sitting in
class this month with fresh perspectives on their chosen careers thanks to
the professional insight they received at the annual American Advertising
Federation (AAF) Student Conference.

Two keynote speakers -- Carter Murray, CEO of Y&R North America, and
Daniel Maree, from McCann New York -- inspired students to start working
as advertisers today. Murray¹s message to the students, who came from as
far as Australia to hear him speak, was this: ³Be a radiator, and do
something.

The young CEO shared stories about his career path and the work behind his
success. Murray told the
attendees exactly how to stand out in today¹s competitive job market. He
also stressed that talking wasn¹t going to produce results. ³You just have
to get out there and show someone you can do it,² Murray said.

Maree talked about his viral campaign ³#millionhoodies² and shared
insights on how to inspire social change through advertising and social
media. Maree and his team used Twitter in the campaign, which sparked
National interest and received recognition from President Obama in a
speech at the
White House.

Both speakers provided time for questions from the eager advertising
students. Flooded with inquiries on gaining experience through
internships, the two speakers urged students to start by doing work for
nonprofits or campus organizations to build a portfolio.
