Early Childhood Special Education Consortium
This consortium is especially for ECSE teachers with provisional licensure, and others seeking ECSE endorsement and is funded by the Virginia Department of Education. Consortium partnership includes Radford University and Lynchburg College. To participate in the consortium, complete the application form.
Apply to Radford University (RU) School of Graduate Studies as a non-degree seeking graduate student, or for a MS degree in Special Education with a concentration in ECSE by no later than one month prior to the start of the semester (see university academic calendar for start dates).
If you are currently teaching preschool-aged children with disabilities and do not have the ECSE endorsement, and qualify, download the consortium application and information documents, complete the application to the consortium and send email to the Consortium contact person at the university of your choice. You must also apply to that university graduate school to take Consortium coursework.
- Admittance to Radford University
- Meet criteria for admission to consortium
- Access to internet/computer capacity for online coursework
- Transportation to Lynchburg College campus or Roanoke Higher Education Center for occasional in-person Saturday classes 1-2 times per semester.
Offering six required courses for Virginia endorsement in ECSE.
Classes offered Fall Semester:
- Medical Aspects (asynchronous online with 1 face- to- face meeting in Lynchburg)
- Assessment in ECSE (asynchronous online with 2 face- to- face meetings in Lynchburg)
- Behavior Management (asynchronous online with 2 face- to- face meetings in Roanoke)
- Family Centered Programs (asynchronous online, no face- to- face meetings)
- Curriculum and Instruction in ECSE (asynchronous online with 2 face- to- face meetings in Roanoke)
Summer Semester as needed (ending by June 15):
- Language Development and Disorders (asynchronous online, no face-to-face meetings)
