Gifted Education

Add-On Endorsement in Gifted Education

Radford University’s Add-On Endorsement in Gifted Education K-12 prepares educators to appropriate identify, develop, and nurture the strengths and talents of advanced learners.  The program consists of 12 semester hours of coursework that can be taken as either a stand-alone course sequence or as part of the M.S. in Education – Curriculum & Instruction degree program. Coursework is offered completely online in fall, spring, and summer semesters to accommodate working educators.

Courses:

For individuals who currently hold a teaching license and have at least one year of successful teaching experience in an accredited public or non-public school

4 course sequence leading to the add-on endorsement in Gifted Education:

EDUC/EDSP 571: Teaching the Gifted Learner (3 credits)

EDUC/EDSP 630: Assessment, Identification, and Evaluation in Gifted Education (3 credits)

EDUC/EDSP 632: Curriculum Differentiation and Instructional Methods for Gifted Learners (3 credits)

EDUC/EDSP 634: Current Issues in Teaching the Gifted (3 credits)

 

For individuals currently working toward the initial teaching license or individuals who hold an initial teaching license but have less than one year of teaching experience  

(12 hours + Practicum):

EDUC/EDSP 571: Teaching the Gifted Learner (3 credits)

EDUC/EDSP 630: Assessment, Identification, and Evaluation in Gifted Education (3 credits)

EDUC/EDSP 632: Curriculum Differentiation and Instructional Methods for Gifted Learners (3 credits)

EDUC/EDSP 634: Current Issues in Teaching the Gifted (3 credits)

EDUC/EDSP 636: Practicum and Action Research in Teaching Gifted Learners (3 credits)
