Build and Maintain ASL Skills
It is impossible to become proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) through coursework alone. DHH majors must participate in additional ASL opportunities in order to develop skills appropriate for working with DHH students in the field. ASL enhancing activities include:
- Silent Gatherings that are held in Heth 103 every week on Monday and Wednesday during the academic year.
- Mondays - 2:30-4:30 p.m. in Waldron 215
- Tuesdays - 6-8 p.m. in Waldron 216
- Wednesdays - 2:30-4:30 p.m. in Waldron 215
- Mondays - 2:30-4:30 p.m. in Waldron 215
- ASL Club - provides an excellent opportunity for DHH majors to learn about American Sign Language, learn about deaf culture, learn new signs, make new friends and have a good time!
- Silent dinners in the New River Vallley
Video tapes can be borrowed from the McConnel Library, the ASL instructors, or the DHH program coordinator.
