Radford University’s annual Highlanders Festival took center stage on campus October 14, 2023, with a blissful mixture of sights and sounds and delicious treats.

This week in Highlanders in the News: Grant Anders ’18, who now works for the Baltimore Orioles as a player development analyst, shares the sheer joy of “being a part of wins in the big leagues,” and Alexandria (Virginia) Police Capt. Courtney Ballantine ’00 discusses his summer spent participating in the FBI National Academy, which included a sprint along Quantico’s famed “Yellow Brick Road.”  

More than 50 K-12 teachers, administrators and counselors from across the New River Valley gathered for food, fellowship, and a preview of the new Artis Center for Adaptive Innovation and Creativity at Radford University during the Highlander Education Appreciation Reception.

Every two weeks, Highlander Highlights shares with readers some of the extraordinary research and accomplishments happening on and off campus through the tireless work and curiosity of our students and faculty. 

About 60 local teachers and administrators attended the Aug. 7 event, designed to better prepare teacher candidates and build valuable mentorships.
