Highland Summer Writers' Conference

2017 Conference and 40th Anniversary Celebration

Participants in the 2017 HSC will enjoy a special 40th anniversary celebration of this writers’ conference, which will be held at Radford University’s beautiful Selu Conservancy the entire week of July 10 – 14. Multi-genre author Jim Minick will serve as guest writer/instructor. Interested individuals can enroll in the conference to obtain traditional three-hour course credit at the graduate or undergraduate level, or register through the Appalachian Regional & Rural Studies Center at a reduced rate for continuing education credits or to simply participate. For more information, please contact Ruth Derrick or Theresa Burriss.

Jim Minick will provide a free reading to the public on Tuesday, July 11, at 7 p.m. in RU’s Bonnie Hurlburt Student Center Combo-Room, second floor, while Professor Emerita, Dr. Grace Toney Edwards will reflect on the HSC’s history and highlights over 40 years on Thursday, July 13, at 6 p.m., also in the Bonnie Hurlburt Student Center.
