The Radford University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has appointed alumnus Anthony Byrd as a business analyst and counselor to work out of the SBDC office on the RU campus.
A native of Pulaski and a 2005 graduate of Radford University with a Bachelor of General Studies degree in marketing and communication, Byrd comes to RU after four years as a counselor with American Express' Open Small Business Division, where he assisted entrepreneurs in the startup of small businesses, including preparation of business plans, cash flows, budgets and financing.
Byrd, who has two Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees from New River Community College and an MBA from Liberty University, has also owned and operated small businesses in the information technology field.
“I have enjoyed career diversity, having worked in IT, engineering and professional sports, but I especially love business," Byrd said. "I look forward to helping the RU Small Business Development Center serve the community. Small businesses are vital for our local communities in creating jobs and a strong local economy.”
The RU SBDC is a cooperative effort between the RU College of Business and Economics , the Virginia SBDC and the U.S. Small Business Administration to serve the business development needs of communities in the New River Valley.
