Professor Nikola Hale, dean of studies for international business management and regional coordinator for USA and Canada for Germany’s Hochschule Furtwangen University (HFU), joined the faculty and students of the Radford University College of Business and Economics (COBE) for a two-day visit to explore opportunities by which RU and HFU can further internationalize their curriculums.
Hale was reciprocating for a visit to HFU made by COBE faculty members Jerry Kopf and Iain Clelland in January to begin the process of developing an agreement for international exchange between the two universities.
HFU is in Furtwangen im Schwarzwald, Baden-Wurttemburg, Germany and has almost 4,000 students. HFU offers 16 undergraduate programs and nine master programs in computer sciences, technology, engineering, media and business studies.
“This was another exciting opportunity for COBE to explore global business education, a central component of the COBE experience,” said Dean Faye Gilbert.
During her visit, Professor Hale taught a session on intercultural competencies to RU MBA students and hosted a workshop on international curriculum development for more than 20 COBE faculty.
“Professor Hale’s visit was helpful to us as we continue to align our teaching for the world as it is developing now, and will be valuable to us as we prepare our students for that reality, its challenges and its opportunities,” said Clelland, associate professor of management.
