Alumnus's YMCA career grew from his Radford years

Cal JohnsonCal Johnson '76, who will retire this summer as president and chief executive of the YMCA of Roanoke Valley, is part of Radford University's history. He was one the first male undergraduate students when Radford College went coed in the 1970s.

Johnson chose Radford after hearing from a friend about the recreation major, which offered field experience as well as classroom instruction. His studies led him to a successful 26-year career with the YMCA.
