Happy Holidays from Radford University

Radford University wishes you happiness and joy this holiday season and a prosperous 2013!

Cindy Chace '86 is Making a Difference in the World

Being a graduate of RU was a great accomplishment for Cindy Chace, who graduated in 1986 and is now director of sales at UPS. Being recruited to play women's basketball at the university, she says, "was unforgettable." While at RU, Chace was impressed with several professors who mentored and guided her and will never forget the caring one-on-one educational assistance provided. "I never felt like a number at Radford but a person who meant something to the university and the educational system."

Recently, Chace attended the global forum of the International Alliance for Women (TIAW) at the Canadian Embassy in Washington D.C. The forum brought together women leaders and change agents in business, finance, entrepreneurship, social innovation and public policy around the world.

The global forum's agenda focused on leadership, innovation, sustainability, and cultural and generational issues. It also featured TIAW's World of Difference Award winners from five continents. This year's World of Difference awards recognized 100 people from more than 30 countries for their efforts in advancing the economic empowerment of women locally, regionally or worldwide.

One of the TIAW awards was given to Chace and "Go for the Greens," the organization she co-founded and currently serves as its president. The nonprofit organization helps women business owners increase revenue and learn about sustainability and the basics of golf.

The organization offers meet-and-greet sessions with corporations and government agencies ready to do business with women-owned and minority-owned businesses, as well as panel discussions, dinner events and golf networking events.

Chace is making a difference in her career at UPS and with "Go for the Greens". She says, "I try to teach people at my work, my community and others with the same personal touch that I received at Radford to make a difference in the world."
