Pocahontas Hall, one of the Moffett quadrangle of residence halls, was completed in 1956. Prior to the arrival of sororities on the campus, the two social clubs were named Ingles for Mary Draper Ingles and Pocahontas for the Native American princess who saved Captain John Smith’s life soon after the establishment of
James
town
. The names of these two social clubs which went out of existence when sororities were introduced live on in the names of those two residence halls. Pocahontas Hall is a smoke-free living environment. The Moffett Quadrangle includes Moffett Hall, Bolling Hall, Draper Hall, Ingles Hall and Pocahontas Hall.
