Lucas Hall

Located between Muse Hall and McConnell Library on the main campus is Lucas Hall, named after Clara Lucas McConnell, wife of the university's first president. Completed in 1929, Lucas was built with funds provided by alumni, faculty and students. The facility currently houses the College of Graduate and Professional Studies at RU. An Alumni Garden is located on the far side of McConnell Library from Lucas Hall and is one of the most scenic areas on the RU campus. Retired biology professor Jack Clark was instrumental in its creation and cultivation. Lined with inscribed limestone plaques, the 33-section garden wall encases perennial and annual flowering beds. The inscribed Founders Hall bell – which once hung in the dome of the original administration building – was set on a pedestal and is now located in the garden.
