Dedmon Center

Named for former president of Radford University, Dr. Donald N. Dedmon, the center opened in the fall of 1981. This multi-purpose facility is situated on a 78-acre tract adjacent to the main campus and features a unique air-supported roof and 56,000 square-foot arena, as well as a large support building. The Dedmon Center seats approximately 4,000 for major athletic events and accommodates as many as 5,000 for concerts and convocations. Other indoor athletic facilities include a 1/6 mile jogging track, handball and racquetball courts, a free exercise room, a Nautilus weight room and a natatorium, featuring an eight-lane swimming pool. Outdoor facilities next to the Dedmon Center include fields for baseball, soccer, lacrosse, softball and intramural football; a jogging trail; and tennis courts. The Patrick D. Cupp Memorial Stadium, which opened in 2002, sits adjacent to the Dedmon Center main complex and serves as the home for the Highlanders' track and field and soccer programs.
