COBE Hosts Unique Job Search and Career Building Event For Students
RADFORD -- Radford University’s College of Business and Economics (COBE) will host the first ‘Experience Business Casually’ career development event for RU Students on Friday, Sept. 11 from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Whitt Hall Lawn. The event is co-hosted by the career development subcommittee of the COBE advisory council and will feature alumni, recruiters and friends of the RU COBE providing feedback to RU students on their professional image after brief, face-to-face interactions. At each table or stop on the “Experience Business Casually” circuit, participating students will be able to practice a given interview skill and receive immediate feedback from one of 17 professional recruiters. The various table hosts will consult with students on a variety of job search related facets such as self introductions skills including the handshake, resume, posture and appearance, body language and more. RU students will be briefed on topics such as “Common Interview Mistakes,” “Dining Etiquette,” “Common Interview Questions,” and “What Is Business Casual?” Among those presenting will be recruiting representatives from organizations such as the Cassaday and Company, Carilion Health Systems, Fastenal, Eastman Chemical and Target. RU students are encouraged to dress “business casual’ for the event and they will have the opportunity to network with the representatives during the session and collect helpful “tip sheets” for further reference. Experience Business Casually is sponsored by First Virginia Bank and is the first of a series of COBE Career Building Workshops scheduled. For more information, call the RU COBE at 831-5382. |
