Alumnus Elected President of National Federation of Press Women

RADFORD -- Cynthia Price ‘87 of Richmond was elected president of the 1,500-member National Federation of Press Women during its annual conference in September. Price will serve as president through 2011, and is only the second Virginia president of the organization in its 70-year history.

Price is director of communications for ChildFund International, which recently adopted a new name. Price coordinated the communications around the name change, oversaw the organization’s new branding and assisted with the launch of its new Web site.

Prior to joining ChildFund, Price served for more than 10 years with the Richmond Police Department, overseeing its communications efforts, including 24/7 media response. She worked with three police chiefs and was a sought-after media relations trainer.

Price has compiled numerous career highlights that include launching a business magazine for the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and reporting for newspapers in Virginia and Pennsylvania. She has won numerous awards for her writing, editing, speech writing and public relations campaigns.

Price has been an adjunct instructor at Virginia Commonwealth University for 10 years, and is a member of the Virginia Mentoring Partnership board, serving on its public relations committee, and a member of the Coal Pit Learning Center board.
