Museum of the Earth Sciences Public Lecture Series Continues
with Exploration of Forensic Geology
RADFORD -- Where have you walked? The dirt on your shoe cannot only tell where, but when. Did wastewater trigger a national park’s most catastrophic rockslide? Join Radford University geology professor Skip Watts as he explores these questions and many more in “Forensic Geology: Sherlock Holmes Had It Right” on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. in the Hurlburt Auditorium.
Watts is currently the interim chair of geology at RU. He has served as a science and technology advisor to U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman, was named a national Jahns Distinguished Lecturer on science in public policy, and is a recipient of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia’s Outstanding Faculty Award. Watts has consulted for the Virginia Office of the Attorney General, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Forest Service, numerous state highway departments, major corporations, mines, and energy companies on legal, environmental and natural hazard issues.
Watts’ presentation is part of the RU Museum of the Earth Sciences public lecture series. To learn more, visit http://www.radford.edu/mes.
