U.S. Senate Congratulates RU on its Centennial
RADFORD -- The U.S. Senate honored Radford University by passing Senate Resolution 456 “Congratulating Radford University on its 100th Anniversary” on Tuesday, March 16. The resolution was introduced by Senator Jim Webb and co-sponsored by Senator Mark Warner. The resolution recognizes RU as “a productive and vital academic community” and acknowledges the work and achievement of the university’s faculty, staff, students, and graduates.
Rep. Rick Boucher has introduced a companion resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives with the co-sponsorship of Rep. Frank Wolf, Rep. Rob Whitman, Rep. Randy Forbes, Rep. Bobby Scott, Rep. Jim Moran and Rep. Tom Perriello.
“To have our Centennial recognized in this manner by the United States Congress is truly an extraordinary honor,” said RU President Penelope W. Kyle. “We extend our sincere gratitude to each Senator and Congressman who has supported these resolutions, and we especially appreciate the leadership roles played by Senator Webb and Congressman Boucher.”
